It's with great sadness that I have to report the death of the Godfather of the Memphis Mafia, Lamar Fike. Very often misunderstood, Lamar was always outspoken and he shot from the hip, but once you broke through his hard exterior (as I did) you found a soft, caring giant who often cried when talking about Elvis.Lamar spent some time with me here in the UK as my guest some years ago, and we often hung out in Memphis. One-to-one time with him was always fun and I respected his often blunt ways. Without doubt, Elvis loved Lamar and I'm sadden by his passing. Many of you won't be, but you didn't know or understand him.
