Our Memphis City Tour *Birthday Week 2009*

We've recently received a number of emails asking questions about our tour. We aim to commence at around 10:30am from behind the ticket office at Graceland (where the Sun Studio shuttle picks up and drops off) after the proclamation on the lawn of Graceland on the morning of January 8th.

Our coach will immediately head out to Elvis' Circle G Ranch in Mississippi where you'll have the opportunity to stroll around the ranch house and take photographs of the famous bridge and cross, which Elvis loved so much.

We then make our way back towards Memphis taking in many of the sights connected with Elvis around the Whitehaven area, including restaurants, stores, homes Elvis bought for friends and places he played football. At around lunchtime we'll stop at Collettas where Elvis loved to eat. We have arranged his favourite dish, a delicious BBQ pizza, for everyone to try, and owner Jerry Colletta (who personally served Elvis many times) will be on hand to greet us and tell a few stories.

After lunch we continue towards downtown, pointing out many of the lesser-known places where Elvis once worshipped, shopped, played, recorded, performed and hung out with friends. Once we arrive in downtown Memphis we take a look at various homes, places of work and we tour the Memphian Theatre - a placed Elvis visited a great deal over many years.

Depending on time spent at the Circle G Ranch, Collettas and the Memphian, we aim to show you the whereabouts of the following places...

American Sound Studio / Arcade Restaurant / Army Draft Board / Baptist Memorial Hospital / Beef And Liberty / Bell-Air Nightclub / Blue Light Studio / Burke’s Florists / Chanaults Restaurant / Circle G Ranch / Coletta’s Restaurant / Crown Electric / Crump Stadium / Dave Wells Community Centre / Donald Furniture / Dr. Nick’s Office / East Trigg Baptist Church / Ellis Auditorium / Fire Station 29 / First Assembly of God Church / Forest Hill Funeral Home / Former Home of Gary Pepper / Former Home of Linda Thompson / Former Home of Sam Thompson / Former Home of the Thompsons / Three Former Homes of Vernon Presley / Three Former Karate Schools / Graceland Elementary School / Gridiron Restaurant / Hickory Log / Holiday Inn, Rivermont / Home on Audubon Drive / Home on Alabama Avenue / Home on Poplar Avenue / Home on Saffarans Avenue / Home on Winchester Avenue (Lauderdale Courts) / Hotel Chisca - WHBQ / Howard Johnson Travel Lodge / Humes High School / Jim’s Barbershop / Lansky Bros. We aim to wrap things up at around 6pm by making two drop-offs in downtown Memphis and back at Graceland.

Oh, and don't forget that the gorgeous Barbara Leigh will be our guest on the tour.
